The parliamentary committee asked Twitter representatives if they complied with Indian law, to which Twitter replied that it would follow their policy.

Officials from the microblogging site were summoned to a parliamentary committee on Friday amid a standoff between India's central government and Twitter over new rules on information technology.
According to media sources, members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee had requested the delegates present on Twitter to submit their statements in writing.

After the meeting, a Twitter spokesperson said, "We appreciate the opportunity to present our case to the parliamentary committee. "We stand ready to work with the Government of India as part of our shared commitment to the service and protection of public expression, in line with the principles of transparency, freedom of expression, and confidentiality."
